Retainers
ESSIX RETAINER
These retainers are made of a clear plastic material. They surround the teeth in all three dimensions.
They are good choice for patients that are highly concerned about aesthetics.
Care: They should be cleaned with either an effervescent denture tablet or a soft toothbrush without any toothpaste. Toothpaste has an abrasive that will scratch the retainer and make them less aesthetic and more difficult to keep clean.
Caution: should be taken that these retainers are not placed in the dishwasher, extremely hot water or placed in direct sunlight (such as being left in a warm car). Since they are plastic, they are subject to warping and distorting, which will make them no longer fit properly.

NOTES OF CAUTION FOR ALL RETAINERS
- ALWAYS keep retainers in their case, unless you are wearing or cleaning them. It is best to store them in your case in the bathroom.
- NEVER put your retainers in a paper towel or napkin, as this will likely result in the need to go "dumpster diving" or a trip to our office.
- NEVER put your retainer in your pocket. It's a good way to break it.
- Keep your retainers away from pets and toddlers as they may find them fun to chew on.
- Take your retainers out when you eat or drink any beverage other than water.
